There is, somewhere on Baseball-Reference, a discussion that there is some sort of error with the Jack Murphy Stadium data from the late 80s (and 1989 in particular). Somewhere, I recall Sean saying that, over the course of a career (like Tony Gwynn's) it's not going to matter.

Gwynn's numbers, from 1987 to 1995:

Over that timeframe overall: -1. Career, Gwynn is a +6. Average sounds about right. So I'd be inclined to disregard the numbers from the Pads in 1989. But that's just me.
